COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS UPDATE
AUGUST 3RD 2020
Restrictions: Advising that yesterday, the Victorian State Government has declared a ‘state of disaster’ for the whole of Victoria.
The following restrictions will be in place until 11.59pm on Sunday 13th September.:
Metropolitan Melbourne & Mitchell Shire: Metropolitan Melbourne moves to Stage 4 restrictions; Mitchell Shire remains on Stage 3 restrictions.
Regional Victoria, Stage 3 restrictions will be in place from 11.59pm on Wednesday 5 August.
Regrettably, community sport & Little Athletics is banned in Metropolitan Melbourne & Regional Victoria for the next 6 weeks.
New season preparations: The announcements of tighter restrictions is really unfortunate news for Centres in their efforts to prepare for the new season, which is only a matter of weeks away. We have no control over these and they will create a lot of uncertainty in just about every facet of our sport. Hopefully, they drive infection rates right down and quickly.
LAVic will continually provide information regarding the new season as it becomes available through our working relationship with Sport and Recreation Victoria and Vicsport. In the next few weeks, there is the AGM, Conference and Centre affiliation processes in progress. Centre Committees are encouraged to register and get involved as any other season. These we can control, as we move closer to getting our sport back underway.
