WMR Relay Carnival - CANCELLED - ALL RELAY TEAMS DIRECT ENTRY INTO STATE RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS
This is the only Carnival where boys and girls can run against each other in a mixed sex team, and can work as a part of a team. Athletes have a lot of fun at this carnival and medals are available for first, second and third in each event. Athletes carry a baton which they pass onto the next member of their team. To be eligible to enter the Region Relay Carnival, athletes must be registered and be a financial Little Athletics Victoria Competitive Member by the closing date and time for entries (3/02/21 U9-12 & 02/03/21 U13-U16).
This year relays will be a little different to other years with Region Relays only being for age groups U9 - U12. All U13 - U16 teams are a direct entry into State Relays in March.
Events included are the 4x100, 4x200 and Medley Relays. This year they have introduced the Swedish Medley - 100mts, 300mts, 200mts, 400mts. Athletes can compete in same sex teams or missed teams.
All events will now be Timed Finals only, and the number of event types an athlete can compete in will increase from 3 to 4, to allow greater flexibility.
U9-U12 State Relay Carnival is being held on Saturday 27th March @ Casey Fields, Cranbourne.
U13 U16 State Relay Carnival is being held on Sunday 28th March @ Casey Fields, Cranbourne.
The Relay event is fantastic as athletes get to work as part of a team.
We will also be looking for parents to help with the training of teams in the lead up to the U9-U12 Region relays, and we will be looking for Team Managers for teams. As a Team Manager you will be required to ensure the whole team is present on the day and ready to be in the call room for their event.
