Why do our families like Little Aths?

Corio Little Athletics Centre has been very welcoming and supportive. My daughter has gained a lot of confidence and independence from participating. She really enjoys it because she gets to compete – but it doesn’t matter if you win or lose – and she has made lots of friends in her first year.
Little athletics has been great for getting our kids active, overcoming challenges, with a focus on them achieving their personal best. The Corio Little Athletics Centre has provided us a great option to be together with family and friends each Saturday morning.
Our kids have so much fun. They have made so many friends and enjoy catching up with them each week. It’s great that little aths is all about personal improvement. They get so excited when they achieve a new PB, and it doesn’t bother them where they finish. It’s such a fun activity to do together as a family. Even our grandparents love it!

This is a Little Athletics Victoria regulation.

Anyone arriving with a dog will be asked to take the dog home.

Only guide dogs and assistance dogs with registration certificates are allowed.

    FIRST AID

  • Photography at Corio LAC

    📸 Centre Photographers

Our official photographers all hold a Working With Children Check. They often participate in other Centre activities, so photo coverage varies by week.

Equipment is personally owned, and photographers volunteer their time—including editing—to share event highlights with families.

Photos are typically uploaded to albums in the Members Corio LAC Facebook group and used for promotional purposes.

👥 Interested in contributing as a photographer or editor? We’d love to have you!

🚫 Infield Access: For safety, only authorised Centre photographers are allowed on the infield.

    📌 Non-Consent to Photos

  • Supporting Your Athlete & Adult Assistance

    💡 Supporting Your Athlete

Little Athletics is about fun, friendship, and personal bests—not just winning. It’s important that athletes feel encouraged, supported, and not pressured.

👪 Parents/guardians must always remain onsite—drop-offs are not allowed (as per LAV requirements).

👏 Celebrate effort and progress. It’s okay if an athlete has a slow day or skips an event—they're learning!

🔗 See the LAV Code of Conduct for more details.

    🤝 Adult Assistance

Little Aths is a family-run sport. All families are expected to assist at events (non technical helping tasks) as part of registration.

Unlike other centres, we don’t set minimum duties—but we rely on your help to make events successful.

👷‍♂️ Tasks include as agreed to when registering

    • Take turns to help at own athletes events
    • Raking sand
    • Retrieving equipment
    • Measuring throws/jumps
    • Setting high jump bars

🔁 Volunteers rotate across events. If you're unable to help physically, talk to us—there may be other ways to contribute.

👨‍👩‍👧 Athletes love seeing family on the field—and parents enjoy being part of the action!

    🏅 Region & State Events

Athletes competing at higher levels must have an adult complete a non technical helping task. Rosters are set after registration based on number participation and families will have an opportunity to choose.

➡️ Note: Families unwilling to assist may be removed from the competition.
